How do I pay you?
We use Paypal. Paypal accepts all major creditcards. Please use our online order system to order our products, this system is linked to PayPal for fast, easy and secure payment. You do not have to have a paypal account to process a creditcard payment through paypal.
In case paypal is not an option for you, we do accept bankwires. However, we then only install the products AFTER we have received payment (anti-scam protection). Costs for the bankwire shall be borne by the customer.


What does RaQTweak expect from the customer?
Our services and products come with a warranty: We guarantee they will work properly. We can however only give this guarantee on 'clean' systems. Systems that have been altered (software wise) or which are not up to date with Security Updates might experience problems.


Do you offer any discounts?
We do, for large bulk orders only. Please contact us and provide us with more information regarding your needs. We will then send you a custom quote.
Individuals, students or non-profit organizations (et al) are not entitled to any special discounts because of their status. Discounts are based on quantity / bulk orders only.

Bulk orders can not be processed online. Please contact us so we can process your bulk order manually.


Why did you change from US Dollar to Euro
Quite simple. RAQTweak B.V. has its main head quarters in The Netherlands, Europe. All financial transactions (including expenses) are to be accounted for and paid for in The Netherlands. When the dollar started to tumble, we were forced to change our billing system to euro's. Of course, we did not convert our prices 1:1. We did of course, at the same time, also lower the prices of almost all our products!


Initial installation, upgrades and re-installation




Can I install the packages myself?
No. We will install the package(s) for you, and configure them as well. You do not have to worry about anything!


Will I get a "pkg"?
Yes, on most products for the RACKSTAR OS2 and BlueQuartz series. Our products are now all hardware locked, which enables us to give out package files.
The original RAQ operating system, and the RACKSTAR OS1 do not support this. On these systems, we will perform the installation.


End of Life information on RAQ2/3/4/XTR
RAQTweak no longer updates or develops packages for Cobalt RAQ2, RAQ3, RAQ4's and XTR's. Please read our End of Life (EOL) information for more details.


Will you send me a manual?
Yes. We will send you a detailed manual with screenshots.


Am I entitled to free upgrades?
Yes and no. This depends if it is a major version upgrade, or minor version.
An example: You purchased v1.0, and we now carry v1.2. Anthing starting with v1.x (in this example) will be considered a minor version upgrade. You are entitled to free minor version upgrades.
If you however purchased v1.0, and we now carry v2.0, you are not entitled to a free, major version upgrade. A 33% upgrade discount does apply however.
If you have v1.0, and we now carry v3.0 or higher, you are not entitled to any discount at all.


Will you charge me to reinstall the software if I had to restore my server?
If the major version (see above) number is the same, we will not charge you for reinstallations, provided you can provide us with a transaction date and invoice number.

What does End of Life (EOL) mean for me and my RAQ?
End of Life means... End of your RAQ's Life. As far as software goes that is. The original RAQ software has been discontinued by Sun, almost right after they bought Cobalt Networks. For more details, please refer to our End of Life (EOL) article. No need to retire your RAQ though, there's a new, alternative (free) OS available: Upgrade to RACKSTAR


What is RackStar, and why should I consider it?
RACKSTAR is an initiative of RAQTweak.com and has been developed by their engineers, together with former Sun/Cobalt RAQ engineers such as Tim Hockin and Patrick Baltz. After two years of programming and a lot of beta testing, the new Appliance Software was released as RackStar v1.0 in May 2006. We highly recommend you upgrade your RAQ with the RACKSTAR upgrade


How can I get hacked, and what do you recommend to protect my server?
Sadly, you can get hacked in numerous ways. Please check our our page about hacked servers, so you get a better understanding of what can happen and how to protect yourself.


Technical / Miscellanious Questions




Why is there so little support for the RaQ1, RaQ2, Qube2700 and Qube2 series?
Those are based on the MIPS architecture. Although a nice architecture for a CPU, the support for it (software) is rather limited. Due to the complexity of the architecture and the low speeds those RaQ/Qube series achieved, we decided not to build to many packages for it.


What kind of drives will fit in a RaQ?
A RaQ3/4 will only support up to 127/132GB drives, due to the LBA24 IDE connector. Bigger drives WILL work, but will simply be recognized as < 127/132GB. Please note that due to the weak power supply of the RaQ1-RaQ4 series, it is recommended you only use 5400RPM drives in dual drive mode.
Strangely enough, only Seagate drives will fit on a RaQ550. Other drive might have their IDE<->Power connector distance a bit wider than Seagates: They will not fit.


Do you provide hardware?
No. We have put a stop to this branch of our business.


Your products are hardware locked, what does that mean?
This means that our software can only run on the server you bought the license for. Packages can now be downloaded, and you can install them yourself. You do however need a valid license file which our support team will generate for you. This license file is locked to your current hardware. Without this license file, the product will simply not work. This means you can not install the package on a 2nd machine and use the same license. This protects our products against piracy!
